GP Referral
A number of our rehabilitation therapists work closely with GP Surgeries, treating patients that doctors have referred for rehab-related treatment or therapy. Our connection with surgeries means that patients can be offered a fast and reliable referral to an onsite Rehabilitation Therapist, incurring minimal delay to the start of their recovery process.
Alongside the more traditional massage techniques, motive8 therapists also deliver exercise classes to patients. Current classes focus on weight management, mobility and balance, pain management/back pain and Pilates, although other classes can be prepared based on the individual needs of a surgery.
Our therapists also work in conjunction with local physiotherapists to ensure all aspects of patients’ treatments are covered, with ongoing treatment administered either at our studio in Kew, at the patient’s home or on surgery premises.
Project case studies
Teresa Holsworth - Frozen Shoulder
Teresa is an extremely busy business woman and mum. She was referred to motive8 a year ago by her GP, who had diagnosed her with a frozen shoulder. Despite undergoing some acupuncture prior to attending motive8’s injury clinic, the problem had not been resolved.
Gillian Taylor - Shoulder & Back Pain
Gillian is an active lady who worked part-time and walked every day. She was referred to motive8 by her GP after complaining of pain in her lower back and also of secondary pain in her left and right Scapula. Gillian’s pain began after she had lifted a heavy object, three months prior to attending motive8’s rehabilitation clinic.
Jenny Mullen - motive8 Rehabilitation Therapist
Jenny Mullen is one of motive8’s Sport Rehabilitation Therapists and has looked after our GP referral scheme for the last 4 years. Jenny’s main interests and expertise lies in assessment of injuries, postural analysis and correction as well as the restoration of proprioception and core strength following an injury.
Sammi Carter - Accident Rehabilitation
Sammi was referred to motive8’s rehabilitation clinic in November 2008 after a road traffic accident. Sammi was a passenger in the car and had turned to look out the back window at the time of the collision.
