motive8 Kids Party - Twickenham

Private Client

In December 2010, motive8 delivered another of its ever popular children’s parties for a family in Twickenham. At the child’s request, we designed a Mario-themed party to be held at ETNA Community Centre, a venue chosen by the clients.

So as to fit with the Mario theme requested by the client, the motive8 coaches prepared some additional props ahead of the party. These included cardboard boxes with string shoulder straps to act as Mario Karts, star and coin cut outs for mini games as well as blown up images of favourite Mario characters for the traditional “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” game with a Mario twist.

The coaches lined up several warm up games to get the party started - musical statues was played first followed by a game called “Fruit bowl”, whereby the children sit in a circle and are allocated a Mario character. When their character is called out, they have to get up and race around the edge of the circle and try to get back to their place before the other children who had also been allocated the same character name.

Next up the children played “Avoid the Ghost”. This involved the motive8 coaches standing at the front of the room with their backs to the children. The children then had to creep forwards and when the ghosts turn around they must freeze. If they are caught moving then they have to sit down. The winner is the first child to reach the “ghosts” without getting caught.

Other Mario-themed games were “Collecting Stars & Coins” and “Pin the Moustache on Mario”. The afternoon was finished off with a Mario Kart cup. This involved the children running a circuit on their cardboard kart and then swapping over to a team mate who then runs his/her laps. Teams were encouraged to cheer their team mates on for extra points and to win head starts on the next round.

"This was a really well organised party run by 3 coaches who engaged fully with the children. The preparation was great and you went out of your way to make the theme work. My son really enjoyed it and, when he went to bed, he said he wished the day could start all over again and asked how many days it was until his next party. Thank you."
