motive8 Kids Party - RuTC July 2011

The party was held for 12 girls aged 6 and 7; the birthday girl had attended a motive8 gymnastics club during the school term and, for this reason, chose to theme her birthday party on gymnastics too. The party was highly enjoyable and the girls had great fun.

From a coaching point of view, it is always difficult to find the correct balance between making this type of party fun but also having the girls learn something because, with gymnastics, there is an added safety aspect. We had to make sure that the children followed certain rules despite them naturally just wanting to go crazy as it was a party!

To start with, we did a warm up game and then we did a stretch. We then went onto Acro balances, which had the girls working in partners. The girls seemed to really enjoy this part.

We then had them try out the trampette, allowing the girls to have as many turns as they wanted and put some music on while they did. All the girls performed tuck, straight and star jumps.

Next up, we moved onto the big trampoline; for safety we had to make sure the girls could jump properly. We then played a game where the girls got to bounce on the trampoline and had to avoid a bouncy ball that was on the trampoline with them. If they got touched by the ball they were out!

Following the activity, our client had opted to book the facility for an additional half hour for food and drinks, where Richmond College provided a large table and chair set up.

We have had increased bookings and enquiries and have delivered a range of activities for our clients from traditional Party Games and Gymnastics to Football and Street Dance in a range of settings such as client’s homes, local parks and hired facilities, including our recommended facility Richmond Upon Thames College.
