motive8 Kids Party - Barnes

Since launching in early 2010, the motive8 children’s parties service has continued to thrive. Our Schools Co-ordinator, Shawn Mullix, together with the motive8 schools team, have successfully delivered a number of tailor-made activity parties for children aged 6 and over in the London area.

In November 2010, our client, the father of a birthday boy from Kew Riverside Primary School, had been lucky enough to win £150’s worth of motive8 money at the school fair; he opted to spend most of this on a birthday party for his son.

Initial discussions with the client revealed his son’s interest in both football and rugby so the team set to work on preparing an appropriately themed party for ten children.

Having agreed a time and date with the motive8 team, all our client had to do was book a suitable venue, send invitations out (which can be provided by motive8) and supply the food and refreshments for the children. The chosen venue was Barnes Home Guard in East Sheen. Our client also opted to order ten motive8 medals, which the children took home as a memento of their afternoon.

The coaches’ delivery is always mindful of the fact that not all children may have played a specific sport - for this reason, sessions are designed so that each child can participate and enjoy the experience.

After a warm up, the motive8 coaches designed a football obstacle race, whereby the children had to run through ladders, dribble the ball around cones and then shoot a goal, later adding a defender in front of the goal. This was finished with a mini game.

The children then played ‘Around the World’, a rugby passing learning technique where children stand in a circle. If they dropped the ball, they ran around the circle. This was concluded with a tag rugby mini game.

"We were very impressed with the motive8 coaches. They were incredibly attentive and got on really well with the kids, who were thoroughly entertained for the whole (two hour) session. They ran more activities than I can remember; a great all-round mix, very useful for those not just into football. You could clearly see the coaches were enjoying the session as much as the kids."
