motive8 Summer Holiday Camp 2011

Collis Primary School, Teddington

Summer 2011 brought motive8’s 7th holiday camp for the school year and it was clear to see the improvements made across the department such as sport specific and experienced coaches together with greater development of resources that has helped the holiday camps develop from strength to strength since our re-launch in Easter 2010!

This summer we held 2 weeks of provision at Collis Primary School in Teddington, and the children had a great time.

The Gymnastics, Streetdance and Cheerleading camp once again performed new routines including routines that mixed street dance and cheerleading together. With one of our coaches being a specialist in Sports Acro, children of all abilities were able to work on partner and group balances that children would never have thought they’d be able to perform.

It is great to see children in gymnastics and street dance returning to our camps time and time again and becoming regular faces - and it’s even better when you see them develop and grow through the weeks and school terms.

The Football and Multi- Skills camp this time around included a football focus with each morning session being based around a different sport where children work on skills for sports such as tennis, cricket, athletics and basketball to name a few. The rest of the sessions are football based as this is the childrens’ preferred sport across the board.

Each day included a whole group warm-up or dance with Mackenzie our mascot, then the gym and multi-sports sides of camp split to their respective activities after a short fruit break. The groups then work through 2 different activities before lunch. Following lunch the children then come together as a whole group and take part in team building activities before the final phase of the day where they take part in another activity to finish.

Just before the end the children enjoy in a downtime activity for 10 minutes or watch a rehearsal of the gym, street dance or cheerleading performance before the parents arrive.

Parents then get to watch the performance or see children get certificates and rewards.

We even threw in a fashion show this time where the children showed of the t-shirts that they had designed!

Visit our schools youtube channel to see a video of our holiday camp and watch what the children get up to.
