Kids Coaching - Esher

Private Client

motive8 kids coaching sessions are designed to increase physical activity levels when children are not in school, adopting a fun yet focused approach. Sessions are arranged at a time and location to suit parents and can be adapted to suit any sport or activity preference.

motive8 schools Project Manager, Shawn Mullix, has delivered 2 private coaching sessions for the children of a personal training client of ours at their home in Esher, Surrey.

The first session was focused on a lacrosse skills practice. We delivered 1-2-1 handling practices, working on basic techniques such as catching the ball, passing and shooting. The children then worked on SAQ (speed, agility and quickness) using agility ladders and hurdles to work on sport-specific movement skills for lacrosse.

The second session was for small group of 6 children. This time the client requested a general football and athletics activity session.

The session included a short Fartlek (speed play) run within the local area. This was followed by footwork and movement drills, as well as working on agility to progress their skills from the previous session.

For the football section of the session, Shawn taught ball control and passing work, looking closely at the children’s individual skill abilities and offering advice and tips where necessary.

"Sessions are run in a relaxed environment where children feel comfortable. The sessions can be sports-specific and geared towards helping children achieve a certain outcome or for pure enjoyment and engagement in physical activity."
