SMSP Sports Day 2010
St Mary's & St Peter's Primary School, TeddingtonThe SMSP Sports Day is the final curricular event in our summer term calendar and, as always, helped end the school team’s year on a high.
The motive8 schools coaches arrived early afternoon and, having picked up their event packs, headed out to the field to await the arrival of the teams.
To open the afternoon of sport, members of the motive8 street dance club performed a routine for their family and friends. The performance was fantastic and received huge applause from both children and parents.
After a quick run through of the programme, the day got underway. Teams moved around several different events, encouraging each other along the way. There was also a great turn out from parents, offering their support to their children’s teams.
Once the teams had rotated between all events, everybody came back together for the relays. The support and encouragement from the teams, parents, teachers and motive8 staff played a key role and really gave the competing children an extra confidence boost.
Following in the footsteps of their children, mums and dads were encouraged to compete in races of their own. Although just a primary school sports day, the parents displayed some serious levels of determination and competitiveness, with close finishes in each race.
At the end of the day, the results were announced, with thank yous all round for those that had helped out. The event was once again a huge success, with a combined effort from teachers and the motive8 team to run the day.
