Linklaters Corporate Gym

Linklaters is a prominent global law firm which commissioned motive8 to design and manage the installation of their corporate staff fitness and wellbeing facility at its UK Headquarters, One Silk Street, London. An emerging trend among large corporate firms is to provide on-site fitness facilities to develop and support employee wellbeing whilst also attracting more high calibre staff. Linklaters commissioned motive8 to develop the scheme from concept to technical design, (RIBA stages C to E), and deliver the client's brief with cost certainty. We were subsequently appointed, as specialist consultants, to provide additional assistance to the architect. This was to investigate alternative layouts which would improve functional and operational performance for the client.

Once the viability of the project had been determined, we were retained to liaise with the management company to ensure fit-for-purpose equipment specification. This included advising on the correct usage of space and equipment provision to ensure maximum efficiency in all aspects of the gyms ergonomics and layout. We worked with the architects, M&E engineers, quantity surveyors as well as with the AV and acoustic consultants to ensure all angles of the project would function simultaneously once complete.

We were also asked to advise on relevant health and safety requirements as well as liability and insurance constraints. All this preparation work was then fed through to the design of the treatment rooms, gym areas and PT studio, all of which were produced in-house by motive8 and presented to the client in both 2D and 3D visual formats.

Having competed all of the above consultancy stages, we procured all equipment and management software. We arranged for the supply, delivery and installation of all equipment followed by the training of all staff for the use of the management software.
